GRIND, GROUND, GROUNDED

Grind, as a verb, means to crush something into small pieces or to make something go slower until it stops completely and the past tense is ground:
Would you like to ground your corn? ✖
Would you like to grind your corn? ✔

Ground, as a verb, means when a boat touches the bottom of the sea and is unable to move, to prevent an aircraft from taking off and to punish a young person by not allowing them to go out with their friends. The past tense is grounded.
The government should not grind the plane. ✖
The government should not ground the plane. ✔
