They used money to ~tie~ him down in the organisation (nonstandard).
They offered him golden handcuffs in the organisation (standard). Benefits, typically deferred payments, provided by an employer to discourage an employee from taking employment elsewhere is golden handcuffs.

They offered the new staff member an ~incentive~ (nonstandard).
They offered the new staff member a golden hello (standard). A substantial payment made by an employer to a keenly sought recruit is a golden hello.
