SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT

  1. Percentage and Fraction Concord: When you use percentage or fraction in the subject position of a sentence, the noun that follows the percentage or concord determines the verb:
Seventy percent of the work ~have~ been done. ✖️
Seventy percent of the work has been done. ✔️
Three quarters of the project ~are~ achieved already. ✖️
Three quarters of the project is achieved already. ✔️
  2. Concord of semi-coordinating conjunctions:
Conjunctions such as “with”, “together with”, “as well as”, “in association with” are used to join two or more nouns when the first noun mentioned is the most important one and should control the verb:
The man with his wives ~were~ at the party. ✖️
The man with his wives was at the party. ✔️
My school in collaboration with few others ~organise~ the programme yearly. ✖️
My school in collaboration with few others organises the programme yearly. ✔️
