WRITING NAMES AND TITLES

English for Today by Ganiu Abisoye Bamgbose (Dr GAB)

WRITING NAMES AND TITLES

  1. Titles are not used with first names or middle names; they have to be used with surnames or full names:
    Prof. Taiwo✖️
    Prof. Moshood ✖️
    Prof. Salisu ✔️
    Prof. Taiwo Moshood Salisu ✔️
  2. Conventionally, first names should be written before surname/family name. This is why it is called first name:
    Taiwo Moshood Salisu ✔️
    Salisu Taiwo Moshood ✖️

However, if the surname has to be written before the first name, it must be separated by a comma or capitalised:
Salisu, Taiwo Moshood ✔️
SALISU Taiwo Moshood ✔️

  1. Appreciating the commitment you put into your site and in depth information you offer. It’s awesome to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same old rehashed material. Fantastic read! I’ve saved your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.
