1. *To have seen better days*: If you say that something has seen better days, you mean that it is old and in poor condition: This car *has seen better days*.

2. *To give someone a blank cheque*: Besides the denotative meaning of this expression which is to give a person a cheque with the privilege to write any amount of money on it, it also means to give a person an unlimited freedom of action: I think he is used to the *blank cheque* he gets from his parents.

3. *A baker’s dozen*: This means thirteen or a group or set of thirteen: Arrange *a baker’s dozen* of chairs on each line.
