BIANNUAL or BIENNIAL?

Biannual is that which happens twice in a year: The committee has just published its biannual report.

Biennial is that which happens once in every two years: The school’s publication is biennial.

Note too that as a noun, biennial refers to a plant that lives for two years, producing seeds and flowers in its second year.
