COMMON ERRORS

She ~is yet~ to visit her parents since she left the country ten years ago (standard).
She has yet to visit her parents since she left the country ten years ago (formal). If you say that you have yet to do something, you mean that you have never done it, especially when this is surprising or bad.

You may like to give it ~a trial~ (nonstandard).
You may like to give it a try (standard).

You can go ahead if you’re willing; it’s ~worth the trial~ (nonstandard).
You can go ahead if you’re willing; it’s worth the try (standard).
