Common Errors

I still miss the Nollywood stars of ~yesteryears~ (nonstandard).
I still miss the Nollywood stars of *yesteryear* (standard).
You use yesteryear to refer to the past, often a period in the past with a set of values or a way of life that no longer exists. Note that the word does not attract “s”.

This person has a ~bad mouth~ because he condemns people (nonstandard).
This person *bad-mouths* people (standard).
If someone bad-mouths you, they say unpleasant things about you, especially when you are not there to defend yourself. Note that the word is not a noun so someone cannot possess bad-mouth.
