Common Errors
I have not even read five novels ~till date~ (nonstandard).
I have not even read five novels *to date* (standard).
To date means up until the present time.
Smoking is not allowed ~in the premises~ (nonstandard).
Smoking is not allowed *on the premises* (standard).
Fluency is not ~synonymous to~ common sense (nonstandard).
Fluency is not *synonymous with* common sense (standard).
If you say that one thing is synonymous with another, you mean that the two things are so closely connected in most people’s minds that one suggests the other.
