Common Mistakes

*It’s a foreign language so keep learning it:*

The court has issued him three *summonses* (not, summons). Summons is singular and the plural is summonses.

We’d had a couple of drinks and we were *in high spirits* (not, on high spirit or on high spirits). When a person(s) is extremely happy and having a good time, s/he is said to be in high spirits.

Please remain on the queue. It’s first come first *served* (not, first come first serve).
