CONFUSING CONTRACTIONS WITH ADJECTIVES
~Whose~ this person (nonstandard)?
Who’s this person (standard)?
Whose is this plate (standard)?
Who’s is a contraction for “who is” or “who has”, and should not be mistaken for the relative or interrogative pronoun, “whose”.
One has to pursue ~once~ interest (nonstandard).
One has to pursue one’s interest (standard).
One’s passion isn’t what one does once in a while (standard).
Although they are pronounced same way, one must be careful not to use the adverb or adjective “once” in place of the contraction, one’s.
