Errors Associated with Possessive Pronouns
It is your’s (nonstandard).
It is yours’ (nonstandard).
It is yours (standard).
That book is her’s (nonstandard).
That book is hers (standard).
The dog broke it’s leg (nonstandard).
The dog broke its leg (standard).
NB: The possessive pronouns do not attract the possessive marker (‘) but the contracted (shortened) forms of some pronouns can attract the mark:
It’s her birthday (not, its).
I’m around (not, am).
