FIANCÉE or FIANCÉ?

A fiancée is a woman to whom someone is engaged to be married; so a man has a fiancée:
Many wonder if GAB has a ~fiancé~ (nonstandard)
Many wonder if GAB has a fiancée (standard).

A fiancé is a man to whom someone is engaged to be married.
Esther said her ~fiancée~ and she were childhood sweethearts (nonstandard).
Esther said her fiancé and she were childhood sweethearts (nonstandard).

Note that both words are pronounced the same way and the “ee” or “e” is pronounced like the “a” in today.
