Formal features of a communique

A good communique must have the following formal features:

A. Title: This will comprise the following:
1. Introduction
2. Summary of decisions
3. The type of meeting/conference issuing the communiqué
4. Venue
5. Date

B. Content: The content should contain a good summary of the key points in the decisions with an initial introductory policy statement.

C. Signature: This should show the names and the signatures of those issuing the communique and their official status in the organisation they represent.
Types of Communiqué
We can talk about three broad categories, namely:
a. Department or institutional communiques
b. Government communique
c. Communiques issued by organisation, professional bodies and trade unions.

These are the types of communiques which learned societies or professional bodies issue after conferences, seminars, symposia or annual meetings.
