GRAMMAR AND EXAMINATION

Students are advised to ~stay clear~ of any act of examination malpractice (nonstandard).
Students are advised to steer clear of any act of examination malpractice (standard).

The student had some things written on her ~laps~ (nonstandard).
The student had some things written on her lap (standard). The flat area between the waist and knees of a seated person is called lap and should not be pluralised.

If you’re caught ~cheating~, you’ll be sent out of the exam hall (general).
If you’re caught cribbing, you’ll be sent out of the exam hall (specific). If you crib, you copy something that someone else has written and pretend that it is your own work.
