Hand in Grammar

Don’t bite the finger that feeds you (nonstandard).
Don’t bite the hand that feeds you (standard).

All hands must be on desk to get the work done (nonstandard)
All hands must be on deck to get the work done (standard). This can also be expressed as “all hands to the pump”.

I just can’t lay my hand on it anywhere (nonstandard).
I just can’t lay my hands on it anywhere (standard). Note that Americans say lay hands upon.
