LOCAL or UNREFINED?
I met one ~local~ girl here yesterday (nonstandard).
I met one *unrefined* girl here yesterday (standard).
To be unrefined is to be lacking in refinement of taste, feeling, manners, language, etc.
Local means existing in or belonging to the area where you live, or to the area that you are talking about. It does not mean to be unrefined, uneducated or uncivilised:
We should use the *local* residents to achieve the aim. ✅
He speaks good English but also changes to his *local* accent. ✅
