Nigerian English and British English

She can spend hours on gist (Nigerian English).
She can spend hours on chit-chat (British English). Note that in British English and other world Englishes, “gist” is the substance or general meaning of a speech or text:
She spoke for two hours but I didn’t even get the gist. ✔️

He has been to my house severally (Nigerian English).
He has been to my house several times (British English).
While “severally” is used to mean “several times” in Nigerian English, the word means “separately” or “individually” in other world varieties of English:
We will severally be responsible for our actions. ✔️
