Sanwo-Olu has made his mark with the outbreak of this pandemic (standard). To have an important effect on something is to make one’s mark.

You should have some ~fruits~ for dessert (nonstandard).
You should have some fruit for dessert (standard). Note however that when you talk about the outcome or rewards of one’s effort, we talk about the fruits of one’s labour (not, fruit). May we all reap the fruits of our labour.
