ON TAG FORMATION
A tag question is a short question attached to a statement for clarification and its formation is rule governed.
- A sentence with no negating marker will have a negation in the tag and vice versa:
He is smart- isn’t he?
He isn’t smart- is he? - A helping verb (auxiliary) is used to form tag questions:
He can dance- can’t he?
He doesn’t know me- does he?
