On the use of “welcome”

Welcome/welcomed

When “welcome” is preceded by “is” or “are”, it is an adjective and cannot be used in the past tense. It means to receive a person with gladness: You are welcome to the club. She is welcome anytime.

When “welcome” is preceded by “have” or “has”, it is a verb and has to attract the past tense marker. It means to perform the act of greeting: You have welcomed me many times.

Task

1. Last she came, we __ her warmly (welcome, welcomed).
2. They have to be __ properly (welcome, welcomed).
3. Ladies and gentlemen, you all are __ here (welcome, welcomed).
