PASTIME or PASS THE TIME?

Pastime is an activity that someone does regularly for enjoyment rather than work; a hobby:
My favourite ~pass time~ is singing (nonstandard).
My favourite pastime is singing (standard).

Pass the time: to pass the time is to let time or a period of time go by especially while doing something enjoyable:
We play games to ~pass time~ always (nonstandard).
We play games to ~pastime~ always (nostandard).
We play games to pass the time always (standard).
