PLAGUE or PLAQUE?

Plague is a contagious bacterial disease characterised by fever and delirium; a disastrous evil or affliction:
The Chairman was presented a plague at the event.✖️
May we not witness an outbreak of plague. ✔️

Plaque is an ornamental tablet, typically of metal, porcelain, or wood, that is fixed to a wall or other surface in commemoration of a person or event:
The Chairman was presented a plaque at the event. ✔️

Note that the a in plague is pronounced like the one in blade, while the a in plaque is pronounced like the a in black.
