PREPOSITIONS IN CONTEXTS

She’s been ~charged for~ murder (nonstandard).
She’s been charged with murder (standard). Note that while you charge (a certain amount) for a service, to be accused of a crime is to be charged with the crime.

It is unfair to drag his name ~in~ the mud (nonstandard).
It is unfair to drag his name through the mud/mire (standard). To damage or ruin a person or their personality is to drag them through the mud or mire.

Both of them left ~on~ their own accord (nonstandard).
Both of them left of their own accord (standard). When a person does something because they want to do so, then they’ve done it of their own accord.
