TAG QUESTIONS
Rule 5: NEED
The verb “need” forms the tag when it precedes another verb.
I need not give him, need I?
When an auxiliary verb precedes “need”, the auxiliary verb forms the tag:
He does need need it, doesn’t he?
Any of “do”, “does” or “did” should be appropriately deployed when “need” is the only verb in a sentence:
Women always need money, don’t they?
Mind a test? Form the tags
- I need not come.
- They can need it anytime.
- She did need that intervention.
- I need it.
- She won’t need it anytime soon.
