TO HUNT or TO HAUNT?

To hunt is to pursue and kill an animal for sport or food, or to search determinedly for someone or something:
He hunted an elephant when he was young. ✔️
He desperately hunted for a new job. ✔️

To haunt is to visit as a ghost and/or cause repeated suffering and anxiety.
Hitting his mother will haunt him forever. ✔️
May evil spirits not haunt our homes! ✔️
