VERBS THAT DO NOT ATTRACT PREPOSITIONS

I ~enter into~ his house at anytime (nonstandard).
I enter his house at anytime (standard).
Note that while “enter” must not be used with “into” when it means to physically go into a place, “enter” attracts the preposition “into” when it means to start a partnership or relationship:
I entered into the business with him sometime in 2018.

We ~lack of~ many things in this country (nonstandard).
We lack many things in this country (standard).
We could not continue for lack of certain needs (standard).
Again, be in the know that to when a person’s or group’s progress is slower than expected, the expression is “lag behind”, not “lack behind”:
Are you ~lacking behind~ in any course (nonstandard)?
Are you lagging behind in any course (standard)?
