*FREQUENTLY CONFUSED AND MISUSED NOUNS*
1. *access*: the right of using; *excess*: a larger amount of something than is allowed or needed.
2. *accident*: something damaging that happens suddenly; *incident*: an event that is unusual.
3. *allusion*: reference; *illusion*: false notion.
4. *ascent*: a path to the top of something; *assent*: approval from someone in authority; *accent*: the way someone pronounces the words of a language.
5. *collusion*: a secret agreement that two or more people make in order to do something dishonest; *collision*: the act in which two or more people meet accidentally and violently.
6. *cemetery*: a piece of land in which the dead are buried; *symmetry*: the exact likeness in size and shape.
7. *career*: profession, way of life; *carrier*: something or someone that carries.
8. *deference*: respect; *difference*: something that makes one thing or person different from another.
9. *desert*: a large area of sand where it is always hot and dry; *dessert*: sweet food served after the main part of a meal.
10. *junction*: a place where roads join together; *juncture*: a point in time, state of affairs.
