English for Today by Ganiu Abisoye Bamgbose (GAB)

Mind the difference.

Farther/Further
Both “farther” and “further” are comparative forms of far. Farther refers to distance while further means “additional” or “to a greater degree”.
Examples:
Grandmother’s place is farther than what we expected.
Grandmother asked us further how we were able to get to her place.

Fewer/Less
Use “fewer” with things that can be counted then “less” with qualities and
quantities that cannot be counted.
Example:
Fewer books; fewer complaints.
Less trouble; less milk.
